without a dout, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION!! Look, I've been a rock fan all my life. But beginning this century, the bands coming out of the west...jeez, some of them didn't use to suck (Weezer), and the rest of them sucked right from the start (Rooney). AKFG restored my faith in Rock n'Roll. Check out TRICERATOPS too!
not sure what kind of rock you're looking for... L'Arc~en~Ciel, Buck-Tick, Asian Kung-fu Generation, The Pillows. S.O.A.P. has a kind of rough sound, Acid Android and Schwarz Stein are techno-rock of debatable quality, and HYDE's 666 album is some nice, non-screamy hard rock. I've had L'Arc's newest album on repeat for quite a while.

Sorry for not recommending QURULI sooner. They are probably the most talented band in Japan right now. They do everything, from techno to country and almost every style of rock n'roll. Really amazing guys.

I need something like Sex Machineguns. Anything similar will suffice.
