What's so great about Pink Floyd?

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-05 22:38

Is it the meaningful lyrics, or the twenty minute instrumentals?

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-06 12:03

The mood.

Sleepy?  Bored?

What do Dale Earnhardt and Pink Floyd have in common?

Their last big hit was The Wall.

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-18 14:48

who ever said "there last big hit was the wall" is an idiot . Music is more than just one group song that plays on the radio .

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-18 14:53

I think everybody should remember the song Learning to fly . That was way after the wall . Thats on the radio to . But thats not the best song on the album . Just another commercial song for the people that don't understand pink floyd

twenty-minute instrumentals kick ass.

The Wall wasn't all that great IMO, there were maybe like four songs on it that were good, but Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here were just more... musical, overall.  Meddle was pretty good but maybe not as developed.

it's not like Pink Floyd is incredibly deep or anything though, I mean the only concept albums they had were pretty simple.  I just look at Floyd as sort of trippy and fun to listen to.

apparently you didn't even get the joke :(

How can you say you enjoy DSoTM and then say that floyd are not incredibly deep. Christ sake, actually listen to it some time.

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-19 15:32

I love Dark Side of the Moon except that Money sounds so out of place.

Though my favorite song has got to be Welcome to the Machine.

pink floyd sucks. and so does the elitist pink floyd fanatic faggits.

their music is boring and has nothing so fucking special (except these annoying ticking clocks and shit)

if you want twenty-minute instrumentals, go listen to some classical music bitches.

btw, i am the OP of the last "pink floyd sucks" thread. good to see there are a lot of people who despise the fraud that pink floyd is.

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-22 8:14

I really don't agree that their music is boring. It's engaging and interesting. Even my father (a musician in a symphony orchestra) likes them.

Seriously, why all the h8?

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-22 9:46

piper at the gates of dawn is my favourite of their albums. i like the wall, wish you were here and DSoTM, but piper at the gates of dawn is still my favourite.

So, I'm not sure about it after reading this thread. Is it cool to like them or to hate them? I liked some of their tracks when I skip the 6 minutes intro, but since there are so many experts providing good arguments, I'm not sure what my opinion is supposed to be.

Here it is seriously uncool to like them. I would even go so far as to label anyone listening to Pink Floyd emo.

you actually judge songs by taking opinios from ppl on the intraweb?

Several reasons why pink floyd is awesome for me:

-They kick ass at playing instruments.
-All their fucking albums got a totally different mood / musicstyle.
-Their concerts were some of the most awesome in the whole music story.
-Listening to most of their music while under drugs is on of the best things i did in my life.

To all the retard that are like "omg pf sucks zomg lol go listen classical music if you wanna 30 minutes instrumental" maybe you should learn a bit about music history, and stop watching mtvcrap3minutes45formated music, like all the shitty bande that claim they do "rock" hahahahahahahahahahahaha².

Kthx

step one; find someone who sells weed and makes a nice profit on it.
step two; ask said weed peddler if he/she has an acid hook up.
step three; purchase about 1-3 millegrams worth of acid, your generic "hit" contains about half a millegram and should not cost over 10 dollars.
step four; ingest acid, and wait 45 minutes
step five; begin playing pink floyd, turn the lights dim, and prepare for an experience you will likeley want to return to as frequentally as possible.
