Hello. Ive been considering to buy another guitar, more precisely, a jumbo acoustic cutaway. After visiting my local acoustic guitar dealers and playing what they offered, Im left unsatisfied. Thus Im asking for help here, on the internet. Of course, Ill give a detailed background of myself to better help you guys recommend me a good acoustic jumbo cutaway. I am strictly an acoustic guitar player. I mainly play fingerstyle, with the very occasional strums. Im the owner of 4 guitars: A Washburn Dreadnought - D12SNM (which I love, plays like a $2000 Taylor), A Hondo Dreadnought H-18E, A Simon & Patrick Cedar 12-string, and a cheap Vantage electric (which I never touch). I want to add a jumbo cutaway to my collection. Im mainly looking for a guitar with a balanced tone, but since I play with a thumbpick, Im looking for a guitar with a darker/more distant bass, since playing with a thumbpick already brings out the bass strings. I dont want the bass to dominate over the mid range and treble. Also for the looks of the guitar; I want the guitar to look as natural as possible. As little polish/coat, and absolutely no paint. Reasons are twofold: I want a guitar with the potential to grow, and I prefer the look of a more natural guitar. Lastly, perhaps the most difficult criteria of them all, I want all of this under $500 CND (or about $350-400 US). I understand this may seem unreasonable, but Im a starving university student. But feel free to recommend me guitars of other price range. Since theres a budget involved, I want the tone of the guitar to take precedence over ease of play. Im willing to sacrifice ease of play for better sound. Of course, Ill do more research after, but your suggestions will help me immensely to narrow down the jumbo cutaway for me.
