*Good* Jam music

I love Ground Zero to pieces, and I've been playing Thick as a Brick over and over lately. Am I alone in thinking that most famous Jam music is pretty boring? I mean, the Dead are ok, but Fish sucks hard balls, and there's little else to be found out there.

So, I guess what I like is the more structured, Voordoms type stuff where they're actually playing together, Coltraine is a little wild for me. Any suggestions?

I do hope you're not considering Otomo Yoshihide's band Ground Zero a jam band...

While I definitely don't consider them "jam bands" or anything, you should check out Strobo, Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden, and Rovo.

Strobo is very similar to current Boredoms/Vooredoms. Nice drum circle/electronic-based music featuring the guitarist of Dragon Ash.
Seiichi Yamamoto (ex-Boredoms) is in Rovo. Great music with multiple drummers and electric violin. Also a little similar to Vooredoms.
I've actually seen DCPRG referred to as a jam band which is too bad. I believe it is a band of Otomo Yoshihide's. http://metropolis.japantoday.com/tokyo/4578/music_beat.asp - This is an excellent article on them.
Maybe you'd be interested in John Zorn's band Masada? Once again, not a jam band really in any way but you might enjoy it. The 50th Birthday Celebration album of Electric Masada is really incredible.

Truthfully, Floyd, back in their early days have good, good jams.
The latter the albums, the more rock it is.
Dont go to The Wall for Jam, go for Meddle, or Umma gumma.
