The Brilliant Green is really really good. They're pretty much the only more pop-like band I like besides Supercar.

rock = pop

YeLLOW Generation is JPop. The Pillows is pretty much the bread-and-butter Japanese Rock group that most people could list off the top of their heads, but a great many of their songs are excellent.

Do As Infinity is JPop / JRock. They sway across the fine line dividing the two from song to song, it seems.

Also, if you don't mind something from earlier in the 90s which was burnt to a cinder by the onrush of fans flocking to them (like the Pillows sadly may be headed one day), Siam Shade does good stuff. They're pop/rock with a slight hint of 80s metal mixed in.

But The Brilliant Green in my opinion is incredible. I just love Tommy's voice, and the lyrical and melodic complexity in their music just has so much feeling to it.

Shonen Knife. Picture the first Clash album, if The Clash were Japanese women who sang about bison and eating jellybeans.

The only shounen knife song I've ever heard of is that Powerpuff Girls song that they'd play on Cartoon Network a couple years ago

fuck all that shit, you'd better just listen to morning musume and berryz. you don't have enough time to listen to that other junk until you've memorized the lyrics to all the momu songs.

Maaya Sakamoto <3 <3

This girl is so amazing, she has so much talent and her english is perfect! It's better then even most nautral english singers. If you dont believe me, find Danielle and Afternoon Repose. Danielle just because it is such an awesome song and Afternoon Repose because you can hear say 'L' and 'R' words perfectly. You wouldn't know she was Japanese unless someone told you.
