Taoism Fail

Name: Anonymous 2014-03-28 23:36

Taoism is a philosophy that people have made into a fullblown religion. It's a simple philosophy: There is no evil, because everything is a natural part of life. Taoism is founded upon a renounciation of the teachings of Confucious, who invented virtues and sins after his own whims. Taoism is ethical anarchy.

It seems easy to understand as a concept. The founder of taoism, Lao Tzu, wasn't a holy man. He was a simple librarian who was fed up with working for Confucius. One would think that at least a handful of people would understand what Lao Tzu was saying.

Nope.
Todays taoism is about reading his book, interpreting its phrases, wondering what they mean, and thinking it's all very mystical and wonderous. "Don't be a faggot." is some sort of ultimate wisdom from a grand sage, that people can only hope to get a glimpse of.

This may seem funny enough, but to really understand the bizarre, we have to look at taoism online.
4chan is a pretty taoist forum already where everything that is allowed to be permitted, is permitted.
However, official taoist forums, are not taoist forums. Quite the opposite.
Besides the general forum PC rules that every forum has copied and pasted from eachother, every post also has to be nice, popular and express a politically correct view. These are forums that would permaban Lao Tzu himself for "promoting immorality". In the end everyone has to basically already agree with eachother, which runs contrary to spiritual progress within taoism. With discussing the validity of immoral views banned, the activities are confined to quoting the Tao Te Ching, screwing around, and small-talking: Drivel.

Many Japanese game corporations seem to follow that concept of Taoism.  Like, there's no such thing as having constructive criticism against Street Fighter or Final Fantasy; you either worship through hours of play and dressing up as Lightning or Chun Li at Comicon, or you hate either to the death and everyone else hates YOU for it.

Taoism is such an unfair point of view yet it's become so utterly predominant in our society that even when it isn't true we're forced to accept it as such.

How is that even remotely taoism?

Taoist forums have actually managed to become evil even in the taoist sense: These forums let you hang around doing nothing but "participating in the community" (fuck all) - that is until you show signs of violence or immorality. Then you effectively graduate from the site without discourse. The effect is that all these forums churn out into society, is people who only want to hurt other people. It's a sort of one-sided corruption not different from any other kind of fanaticism in religion: They want to create soldiers.

You expect normal forums to behave in this way, because normal forums don't understand the taoist perspective. Once you actually understand the slightest bit of taoism, you understand the consequences, yet the taoist forums still pull this stunt, using propaganda phrasings to make it look legit.

Here's an example:

"We will let you swim in the sea of relativism, until you show signs of violence or inciting violence. Then we let you lose upon the outside world, to burn and pillage in the name of Taoist Jihad.

The Tao Bums appears to have managed to get away with this right under the noses of Facebook too, for god knows how many years.
Their ringleader - some gorilla named Trunk - is even publicly stating that above all he wants to maintain an innocent front, so that no violence can be traced back to the forum.

It's like any other Jihad camp: You learn to question everything but violence. How exactly blowing yourself up will get you those virgins, is a "touchy subject".

just because it is a natural part of life doesn't mean it is not evil

"Evil" is a word that faggots resort to when they can't find a RATIONAL reason for their faggotry. It's a word for blaming their own ignorance on other people.

Cutting your own dick off isn't evil. It's stupid.
Spinning around until you fall down isn't evil. It's pointless.
Banning all staplers in the office isn't evil. It's inefficient.
Eating your own shit isn't evil. It's unhealthy.
The ethical concept of "evil" ties into the religious concept of sin: It's an invention to fool the masses, and it's an invention to fool yourself.

Evil is by definition something senselessly destructive. As such, it doesn't fit in in a world that makes sense. Once you have enough sense yourself to make sense of it, "evil" ceases to be senseless. However, "evil" is like "god" in that it provides an answer that can even deter people from making sense of things. Evil is what makes ethics a religion of its own.

Looking back to the ringleader Trunk, he is only evil in the anti-taoist sense. He's trying to create a virtual utopia where violence and such things is not part of reality. In so doing, he's not only deluding his followers into a false view of the tao, but also creating real-world taoist terrorists for his own needs. His needs will in turn no doubt have normal reasons (such as him only faking being a taoist, or him hating a world that didn't give him a pony), so they're not evil in a strict sense, even if these needs are hurting taoism, the balance of the tao, and the rest of the world.

The Useless Tao of Trunk

As a shrink, only treat patients who are mentally healthy. Ban all other patients from entering your clinic.
As a fireman, only put out buildings that are not on fire. All burning buildings can burn down for all you care.
As a cook, only offer food to people who are not hungry.
You're not depriving the world of mental health, homes and food, because you're obviously supplying it to people "who deserve it".

I don't think anyone would consider any of those actions to be evil.

No, those actions are just simple examples. Actions that people actually consider evil, are too complex to disect as small examples, especially in a general sense. Newspapers always report that a father of two killed his whole family, but they'll never tell you why, because explaining mental illnesses and the factors behind them, isn't sensational. The papers like the concept of dangerous things happening out of nowhere, because people on the lookout for these, will look out for evil in their papers.
