When we are young we think we can solve every problem and change the world.

When we are older we grow cynical and everything seems to be a pointless effort.

We should strive to be both, we should be realists, realizing things aren't that simple and there is little hope of accomplishing everything but trying to accomplish something anyway.

Well said but I think it applies in both cases for everyone. Elderly people forget how much it sucks to be a child and how difficult it is to obtain employment when you are seen as a incompetent baby. Children on the other hand have very little experience as a adult and so they have no idea how much it hurts to be relied on.

When you remove that religious nonsense that is holding society back, we can actually focus on believing in ourselves for a change.
