>Well Windows 3.0 was a decent attempt at a GUI OS at the time it was made, but Win3.1 offered very little improvement. Then Win95 changed the whole game again by introducing virtualization. Awesome, but then Win98 screwed it up again with excessive user interface tweaks and not enough attention on all the new bugs they were introducing. Then Win98SE came out and fixed all that, and we were happy again until WinME came out and damn near summoned Cthulhu just by sucking hard enough before we had that under control. Then WinXP -- the most stable thing we've ever made -- caused everyone to forgive us again. We blew all that goodwill making everyone swallow Vista (the least stable thing we've ever made, at least since WinME), and then Win7 came out as "What Vista was supposed to be if we actually released things when they were ready." Then (God help us) the makers of Win8 said they wanted desktop and phone builds to be the same core, so everyone with a keyboard and a mouse but no touchscreen is completely boned trying to work out the interface. By this logic, the next Windows OS should be awesome....
