Was he right?  Or was he, in fact, not right.

Neither were right, in fact. It makes no sense to put one form of distraction (so called "political discourse") over another (mainstream infotainment). Neither scenario has played out anywhere in the world, and is is very unlikely to because the world has so many conflicting forces in every facet that nothing absolute is ever done.

Huxley is STOP LIKING WHAT I DONT LIKE. What a fag, boo hoo shitty books are not as popular. They still sell, get with the times old man.

I'd say Huxley = USA, Orwell = China

Huxley = Western culture, Orwell = Middle East

But we don't have babies being put in fire to learn hot nor do we have Telescreens we can talk to people on (no, devices with some similarities don't count).

Neither were right.

There's nothing wrong with technology, pleasures of the world, an easy life. What's wrong is when we cease to care about right and wrong, good and evil, about proper principles of human relations, or even about principles at all. Much of society is structured around the idea that might makes right--does it? Or around the idea that the needs of the group take precedence over the free choice of the individual--does it?
