Once upon a time, when heavily graphically based games were not so common, there was something known as 'BYOND'. It still exists today, but is greatly lacking in its former glory. I am here to tell you about one game, one server in this classic client, that needs all of your help.
This game, is Phoenix: Sundered Earth.
SE is a multiplayer game, and is heavily based around the players interacting in various ways. You select from one of the many races, and then go through and put points into things we call 'mods'. These mods govern how quickly you gain stats in a certain area. You then proceed into the game, and that is where the fun begins.
While SE is about making your character stronger so you can overcome the opposition, it is also about the interaction, as I stated earlier. You see, this game is known as an 'RPI', or 'Role-play Intensive' game. This means that you -are- your character when you play.
Your actions are split into two sections: 'IC' (in character) and 'OOC' (out of character). There is an OOC channel so you may discuss things with other members of the game, and all things IC are where your character takes hold. You interact with other characters, and are a whole new person while doing so.
This really comes into play during things such as fights, where you get to roleplay fighting another character, and then actually do this via a live-action combat scenario wherein you utilize various skills such as energy moves which fire off powerful blasts, and normal attacking.
Instructions on how to join:
1. Go to http://byond.com/download and download the client for your OS.
2. Install the client, and then go to https://secure.byond.com/?page=Join to create an account.
3. Log in to the client, and at the top you will see 'bookmarks'. Click this, and then click 'add'.
4. For the URL enter 'byond://66.90.195.155:5332' and for name, enter whatever you wish.
5. Simply click bookmarks again, then hit the name you chose.
6. If you need any help once in game, in the bottom text bar, simply type 'ooc' followed by a space, and then anything you want to send. We'll try to help you the best we can.
