i thought it was suspicious that dubstep was popular. then i listened to skillrex this morning, and realised that the pop-with-ugly-noises i've been hearing around is what people are calling dubstep nowadays. what the fuck?
the stuff around people are calling dubstep is just such a mishmash of different styles that they all get washed out, leaving the over 50% crappy pop (so people don't get confused and think i'm talking about good pop, i'm talking ) to take over. It's like they took IDM, then took away the I, and then took away the D, and then realised they had to fill up the blank spots and so used industrial strength seafood extender.
this is just like the time "electro" was the cool sort of music - it was just pop with a thin layer of nutella spread over the top of crushed paracetamol to make kids swallow it. eugh.
