The theme was Century of Progress. A major attraction was a Midget Village in which scaled-down buildings were populated by fully grown, yet small, people. You could get your hair cut by midget hairstylers in a little hair salon.
Now, the Midget Village was not unique to Chicago. It was a long tradition that these fairs would include a Midget Village. If you visit Chicago today, you will not find an oddly small area with oddly small buildings. The midgets have to be content to live among the giants of today, some almost 8 feet high, playing basketball and buying large shoes.
