Britain basically conquered the easy half of the World, countries which couldn't defend themselves.

      the Caribbean: Guys too high to do anything
      Canada: Too cold for the Inuits to rebel
      Gibraltar
      Africa: Black guys with sticks
      Australia and New Zealand: A barren landscape pretty much
      India, Pakistan: Skinny dudes
      Middle East: Again, pretty much barren
      Polynesia: Small islands full of spear chuckers.

Considering the frequency with which the British Empire sucked balls, we can then posit that British subjects of that era were familiar with the Eternal Question:

"How long does it take for piss to land on balls?"
