Probably lulzsec is CIA themselves put by the government to find an excuse to censor internet. I expect China internet version 2 in a few decades minus the porn censorship.

It probably is. These guys can take down the CIA website and NOT get caught despite some of the best hackers being bought by the government? Not fucking likely.
They ran this ridiculous scare piece about hacking on ABC last night.
If they attribute CIA downtime to hacking and not some technical problem it's very possible that their plan is to censor the internet. Expect worse fear mongering about internet than ever before. Patriot Act wants moar.

There is no rhyme or reason to anything lulsec does, hacking a bunch of random sites for no particular reason except for the apparent LOLs which I wouldn't have a problem with but it's clear that something fishy is going on here.

Who can be so overtly covert?
And sometimes even covertly overt?

...but they seem to have a lot of support...
where would the CIA go with that sort of thing?
Brings out the rebellious elements of society. Does someone seem to be taking an overly large amount of interest in a "group" hacking the government? Perfect place to spot subversive elements. It's taking a page out of 1984. When the government MAKES the "resistance" groups then they can spot all of the possibly dangerous elements and quietly keep them where they want them. Allows them to keep a firm grasp on who is doing what, how likely they are to be threatening, etc.
It only makes sense and the government has tons of resources to do something like this. Just start some minor shitstorms and let the subversive elements rise right up to the top to be watched and controlled. It's basic shit.

why 'site:4chan.org lulzsec' on google first results in last 24h show only 404 pages ?
Lulzsec is a 5th column? How is that? If anything it's either a bunch of hackers going rogue exploiting security holes to be fixed, or they could be a group of CIA/intelligence agency people trying to hype up "hacking" for more control of the Internet by getting people worried/mad at them or just using this as a way to possibly hit larger international targets in the future without seeming like a legitimate intelligence operation.

the whole lulzsec thing makes me wonder. lets be honest the whole 'did it for the lulz' stuff died with chanology bullshit that the CIA likes to believe is still out there. I'm part of 'chan culture' in that I go to the IRCs and stuff of so many image and textboards and I've not seen or heard anyone mention it or even seem remotely interested.
I would imagine no hacker with any sense wants to get involved with any anon-based hacking group because many of them have idiot 'legion' members who deface webpages and get everyone busted.
I wouldn't be so sure about the CIA catching hackers though, both the FBI and the CIA shit their pants whenever hackers start picking on bigger targets (which seems to happen every 7 years or so) and end up busting some DDoSing kids to help assure the public that everything is okay and that they are catching these 'terrorists', when in reality the good hackers NEVER get caught.
the biggest mystery is how this ties in with wikileaks, many of the talented hackers who were owning the shit out of all the big white-hat (ethical) security firms went quiet a few years ago, then about a year on and wikileaks starts blowing up and getting hold of all kinds of crazy information, since then those anti-whitehat groups have been dead silent.
