question for supporters of medical marijuana

Name: Anonymous 2011-04-06 5:29

Would you still support medical marijuana if scientists found a way to dilute the THC and its active chemicals to produce a pill that relieved pain and gave increases of apatite for cancer patients but without the high?

Keep in mind this would be the only legal form of medical marijuana.

Would you support that idea of only having that pill?

It's kind of a stupid question because that's impossible, but no I wouldn't support that. I support full legalization for all adults.

Why would you want to increase the Ca5(PO4)3(F,Cl,OH) of cancer patients? How is that relevant?

So that companies can create TV that integrate a DVR as well and call those "TV supersets".

Funny argument. You fail to mention that chemicals from opium are often extracted and sold in prescription pills which are illegal to own without a prescription. Opium itself however is legal and can be bought online and in flea markets and stuff. The same would happen with marijuana, in fact, it already happened. Have you ever heard of Marinol? It is a pill containing an analogue of THC and is prescribed to cancer patients. However smoking marijuana is a lot more efficient then taking oral medication, and marijuana has a lot less risks than other drugs that involve smoking.

Medical Marijuana isn't just for cancer. There are about 500 other things it can be prescribed for. 30% of which use the THC. So nice idea,  but it would never be practical.

Bullshit. Smoking marijuana wastes a lot more than embedding it in food (all while remembering that the active ingredient is an oil, therefore not water-soluble).

I'm not disagreeing with anything else you said, but this is actually wrong. Opium is illegal. Poppies are legal (but only if they're ornamental, even though ornamental and opium poppies are the exact same plant), opium is not.

Y'all a bunch of dirty lazy stoners! This is why marijuana needs to be banned even for "medicinal" purposes. Alcohol should be banned too. We can't have stoners and drunk morons walking around society or driving cars endangering the lives of good honest citizens imo.

This was the point I was trying to make actually. I know opium in it's extracted form is illegal, however you are free to own the plant that opium is derived from. This policy is used towards all drugs with natural sources, marijuana is the one drug that can not be owned in any form whatsoever. Mescaline, LSA, and DMT are also drugs that in pure form are illegal, but are found in many legal plants. The only reason marijuana is illegal is because it was a threat to foresting, they wanted to eliminate it entirely.

You are somewhat correct, but also wrong. Inhalation causes fast-acting and more potent effects due to it's high bioavailability and it's route of action. Digestion is a lot less potent, but because none of the THC is wasted it is arguably more helpful. So which is more efficient? Inhalation. If you vaporize your marijuana, you are not wasting THC and you are receiving fast acting effects. All in all, it depends on the reason why you are doing it in the first place. For marijuana's analgesic effects, fast-action is definitely preferred. For marijuana's sedative effects, digestion would be a more suitable method. Another problem with digestion though, is marijuana is usually prescribed to increase appetite. Obviously eating something is not going to be easy for somebody with a decreased appetite.

Because he doesn't want a bunch of idiots that purposefully put themselves in a state of decreased motor and cognitive function to be treated the same as other people who don't do such an stupid thing, he must be religious?
Really?

I am 24 years old; I've never smoked marijuana nor have I ever gotten drunk or, God forbid, passed out.

That being said, I think you are a huge butthole for wanting to remove even more civil liberties off citizens. I could start arguing about how wrong you are in >>16, but I happen to have better things to do.

Regards,
fuck off

Don't change these.
