This was the point I was trying to make actually. I know opium in it's extracted form is illegal, however you are free to own the plant that opium is derived from. This policy is used towards all drugs with natural sources, marijuana is the one drug that can not be owned in any form whatsoever. Mescaline, LSA, and DMT are also drugs that in pure form are illegal, but are found in many legal plants. The only reason marijuana is illegal is because it was a threat to foresting, they wanted to eliminate it entirely.

You are somewhat correct, but also wrong. Inhalation causes fast-acting and more potent effects due to it's high bioavailability and it's route of action. Digestion is a lot less potent, but because none of the THC is wasted it is arguably more helpful. So which is more efficient? Inhalation. If you vaporize your marijuana, you are not wasting THC and you are receiving fast acting effects. All in all, it depends on the reason why you are doing it in the first place. For marijuana's analgesic effects, fast-action is definitely preferred. For marijuana's sedative effects, digestion would be a more suitable method. Another problem with digestion though, is marijuana is usually prescribed to increase appetite. Obviously eating something is not going to be easy for somebody with a decreased appetite.
