Why are Libyans revolting?

I have been watching the events in Egypt and Libya on Al Jazeera, and while I have noticed many handsome young Egyptians (especially males), the Libyan protesters (and Gaddafi) seem disgustingly ugly to me. What explains this huge difference in looks? I thought the Libyan/Egyptian populations were closely related, even before the Arabisation took place.
