The origins of atheism

Name: Anonymous 2010-10-14 15:49

A fundamental mistake of Communism is that religion is not a tool of oppression, but a self-help technique (and indeed Marx understood this). Prayer, meditation, donating to gods or monks: all these things came with the promise of easing suffering, and because of cultural acceptance they were effective remedies. With excess capital, though, came the ability to purchase the remedies of science, which were often perceived as more effective just because of their defined monetary value.

One could avoid having to have a serious discussion with one's pastor, and instead purchase the non-judgmental help of a psychologist. In short, atheism rose out not out of freedom from tyranny but out of excess capital and selfishness.

Sorry, atheism is the default of the mind. No one is born religious, it's introduced while one is a child, since the mind is easier to corrupt at a young age. In short, religion rose not out of a self help technique but as a tool of oppression.

Thank you, but you do realize that the week isn't over yet, right? If RedCream floats by and "poasts", he will surely claim the prize!

What about privately praying and reading the bible and such? Not going to and giving money out to these false corporate owned "mega churches" and other such garbage out there these days? That doesn't seem like it's oppression, and its probably a good thing to do once in a while, so long as you don't become some religious nutcase about it.
