Personally I just repeat the words "delete" or "delete everything" over and over in my head. It doesn't actually delete the memories, obviously, but it helps me forget them temporarily. They wouldn't even seem very negative to others, but to me the thought of them is unbearable.

Come to think of it, that kind of reminds me of Serial Experiments Lain; the one-shot, specifically. Where's Masami Eiri when you need him?
