How do I drop out?

I'm a senior in high school. I plan on dropping out when I turn 18 in October. The only problem is that I'm not sure how to actually do it. Do I just stop showing up or do I have to sign something? I want to do it legally. I've tried looking it up, but all I get is a bunch of faggy stories about how their girlfriend held hands with someone else. My parents will disown me when I turn 18, so I'm pretty sure I don't need them to sign anything.
