Why was /lounge/ so shitty in 2007?

I'm looking through the old threads, and it seems like it went to absolute shit for a year.  Nothing but spam and the kind of shit you'd see on /b/ now.

A lot of the text boards are still suffering quite a bit. It be nice if we had a bigger community that doesn't have the mannerism as most of 4chan. Where the trolls are actually good and funny and great discussion is had. I think we had a bit more traffic recently because of refugees from "summertime" 4chan. If the spam was eliminated it would make these text boards a whole lot better.
