It started very much grass-roots, way back in the beginning of 2009, possibly as far back as 2007 the idea of a "coalition" of people, and this is when Bush was still president. When people are losing their homes, their jobs, and seeing homeless people on the street, it's not going to take long before they start protesting and demanding answers. Especially when this is happening to people in large numbers. Basic human nature.
