is it cheating to memorize stuff for test

Like, say the test won't have formulas given to you.  It is cheating to memorize the formulas and then write them down straight out of memory on the test?  Because it's not fair to those who don't have it in their memory.

How so? It's a legitimate thing to do before taking a test. In fact, I'd consider it a responsibility that one must take, if they desire to do well. Who told you that it would be a bad thing to do so before taking a test?
