Shaving cats

My cat is very hairy! His fur is full of hairy knots and dingleberries! Now that winter is coming to an end, I figure he could do with a lighter coat.

Any pointers for a novice cat shavist?

Don't do what my friend's mother does and shave the cat and he looks all faggoty. A little trim is all he'll need.

Remember to give him a good wash first so it's easier to shave the hair; untangled hair is easier to clip.
