i have absolutely zero interest in accepting donations. i am not jimmy wales. begging for donations sucks, and large websites shouldn't rely on donations to cover operating costs.
i think wikipedia's model is fucking ridiculous and people are idiots to keep throwing millions of dollars at them.
The fact that the CP gets deleted doesn't mean CP is never hosted here, it is. And moot never got shit for it because 4chan, like any other site, is not responsible for what its user post, and the only thing they can do is to remove the illegal content.
If you want to see how a mainstream imageboard should be handled, check out 2ch, the original IB. It's so mainstream they have all kinds of shit there, it gets press coverage, it's on TV and mentioned in many manga and anime, and still it's not a piece of shit. Why? Because its users can self-moderate the board. 2ch hasn't idiots posting CP, doing invasions or shit like that. They don't even have strong restraints. And at the beginning, 4chan was like that, too. But then, it got too big, and look at this place. We have hipsters (/r9k/, /mu/, /fa/, /lit/ and /b/), school kids (every board, underage b& doesn't exist anymore, it's in the rules but many people admit to being underage and never get banned), rednecks (/sp/, /k/) and all kind of shit. It even lost its former weeaboo userbase.
It's not moot's fault, he's a cool guy and did his best to keep 4chan running, it's the user's faults. And the mods are no better, they are very intolerant of everything that gets reported on IRC, when they are online.
