WASHINGTON – US President Barack Obama this week signed the 2010 foreign aid budget law which includes $2.775 billion in security aid to Israel. This is the second year the budget is transferred to the Jewish state as part of understandings that the American assistance to Israel in the coming decade will total $30 billion.

Allow me to quote from a high school paper I wrote on the subject of aid to Israel:
Funding for this policy constitutes about 30% of the total U.S. foreign aid budget (MIFTAH). Recently, however, the total funding per year has dropped below $3 billion, having been $3+ billion since 1985 (JVL). The total amount of aid given to Israel since 1948 has been over $90 billion (JVL). This is certainly a significant sum. For comparison, for the period from 1949-1996, the U.S. gave about $62.5 billion in foreign aid to all the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean combined (Curtiss).
