KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) detected 984 offences committed by taxi drivers between Jan 1 and 14 this year, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said.

Of the total, 523 cases involved taxi drivers who refused to issue receipts, 299 cases of refusal to use meters, 11 cases of refusal to take passengers and 47 cases of overcharging.

Mohamed Nazri said 957 of the offences were detected during JPJ operations.

Speaking to reporters after opening an awareness campaign for public transportation users here, he said consumers should be brave to report cases involving taxi drivers.

"Taxis are the country's main public transportation and any problem involving taxi drivers will affect the country's public transportation system," he said.

Don't change these.
