1) walking into your air conditioned home when its 110°F outside
2) walking into your heated home when its below freezing outside

Actually we use both, but the USA is filled with too many HURP DE DERP people that couldn't give two shits about the metric system. Sad, I wish we would because it's such a better system than the imperial one we currently use.
