Who will be remembered 1000 years later?

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-13 0:06

Who, from 1900 to 2010, will be remembered by the common people and not just historians in 3000?

Adolf Hitler?
Bill Gates?
9/11 Terrorists?
Madoff?

If we survive the next millennium there are only two likely  answers.
1.  Our development will have been interrupted by catastrophe and most of the knowledge from this time will have been lost.  Who can you name from the period 1000CE-1100CE?
2.  Our development will have continued unabated, and we will have become a race whose consciousness and knowledge will be stored artificially, so everyone will have instant recall of all available historical information from the period.  As to whose contribution might be significant enough to still warrant a conscious awareness, only Einstein and Alan Turing have a shot.

I believe the one who will be best remembered from this time is yet to come.  And like most people here, a little part of me still believes it might be me.

Hitler was born in 1889 and technically is not within your 1900-2010 time period.

Christopher Poole will be most remembered as the qualifying contributor to 21st Century culture.

There are people who are remembered even after 2000 years after their death, Julius Caesar is the common example.

But did we really have any Juliae in the last century?

I nominate Mel Gibson.

Einstein, at least in the way that Archimedes is.  People recognize the name, even if they don't really know anything about them

He was born in 1879, though I suppose his prime was probably in the 20th century.

The OP probably should've specified whether the person has to have been born or left their mark in the time frame.
