So I'm guessing that many of the people posting on /lounge/ have been around since before the main page changed. Myself, I joined this site in early 2007, at first I posted exclusively on the textboards, just lurking the imageboards. I've seen the tone of the imageboards (/b/ and then /r9k) change dramatically over this period but /lounge/ has stayed pretty much the same.
How old are the majority of /lounge/ers? And how long have you been on this board?
I'm also guessing the majority of you are retired stock traders or businessmen in your thirties.

I lurked the imageboards. And then after a while I posted. I used PROVE ME WRONG because it is a totally forgotten "meme' from a year ago. A joke. please answer the questions.

Apparently you either need to "lurk more" or you haven't been lurking properly, because we largely refrain from using such imageboard-esque language. Except for the really ancient /b/ stuff, which is stuff that is really forgotten.

And we all know you browse /r9k/

I haven't browsed /r9k/ in over five months. It was an interesting board when it first started, but now it's quite terrible. Just sit back and relax and enjoy the board, and stop asking the type of questions that only imageboard users are infatuated with constantly.

Actually I am responsible for much of /lounge/'s culture. Who said "jeepers" first? Me. Who flooded /lounge/ with the suicide threads, "the negro" text, KIKES and FISTING? Uh, you're looking at him? Who coined the "spam drink coca cola" meme? That's right, me again. Who started the "fancy that cat thread"? The "The Pleasure Of Being Cummed Inside thread? The lol /lounge/ series? All me.
Wow, now that I think about it I'm amazed by how much I've influenced /lounge/. And you have the gall to tell me to "lurk moar"? This is my fucking board, I made this shit.

Being retired is awesome, though I still trade stocks, but mostly I just browse various chans and watch anime.

Damn I forgot "fail. GTFO" and "listen here jerkface" At first it was just me posting both, I got a kick out of it when people starting posting one each, successful troll. >>8
Uh huh, interesting story gramps. What's been your influence on /lounge/ culture? I'm willing to bet none or hardly any.
>>9
I actually started the current use of "Coca cola", though I did take it from someone who was using it earlier as a response to the McCain spam during last years USA presidential election. Its use has faded away over time though.
Lol, you remind me of those on /prog/ who say "This may surprise you but I invented the 'blah blah blah', etc."

I find the idea of making memes on a board to be silly, so I usually don't bother doing that kind of thing. I do contribute however I can, though.

Why are so many cads proud of spamming the board with bullshit that ruins it? Why even be here if you hate it so much? >>14 I find the idea of making memes on a board to be silly, so I usually don't bother doing that kind of thing. I do contribute however I can, though.
Oh yeah great contribution there champ, well done! So much better than putting in effort to create successful memes.

Why? What's wrong with that? Whenever there are things going round I participate in them, and I was the first to break to /lounge/ of Michael Jackson's death (I knew they would love that). There's been times where I have been thanked for my contributions. Some people find success in making memes, some find making a footnote in starting a memorable name for themselves, some just make it from simple contribution.
I really don't think it's that big of a deal since most of us are anonymous anyway.

I agree. This fucked up piece of shit >>13 casually mentions that he flooded the board with "vote mccain" for a month, rendering the board almost unusable. And he just casually mentions it? Fucking assmuncher. Same goes for >>9 but at least he has produced some lulz memes we can all enjoy. Meme making takes skill, memes like DRIVE LIKE JEHU were so popular because they struck a cord with /loung/ers, it is an art, unlike flooding a word or two with a bot.

I didn't do the extreme flooding of it where it made the board nearly unusable at that point. Some other asshat thought it was funny and decided to "up the ante" so to speak. I left /lounge/ during that period and waited for things to cool down. Had I known what I know now, I probably wouldn't have "revived" it in its current incarnation in the first place.

Okay, we can't all invent memes, I hope your main "contribution' is the propagating of other's memes as that is the pinnacle of anonymous message board creativity. Don't you dare call memes silly, they are the life blood of our /lounge/. Hell an artfully placed DRIVE LIKE JEHU can save any thread.
>>19
I'll admit I am guilty of propagating memes; they have their uses when the time is right, however that's not my "main" point of contribution. Perhaps you're correct in not referring to them as "silly". I dunno. I'd imagine that when one creates a meme that takes off and lots of other people start using it, they feel this sense of accomplishment. In any case, that's good for them. :-)

The current incarnation of the use of "Coca Cola" (after election 2008). I used it sparingly at first, then I guess some asshat decided to "up the ante" as I said before and it went to the point where /lounge/ was being flooded with it a bit too much. I don't see it being used much (if at all) anymore, so that's a good thing.

Fuck you're an asshole. First you flood "vote mccain' then you start doubling the spam by responding to every spam phrase with another spam phrase in all caps. That is really shameful.

I never flooded "vote mccain". I said that was before I started browsing /lounge/. What I did was I discovered the whole Coca Cola thing it by browsing old threads on /lounge/ and I though it would be cool to revive it in a different way. It was alright as first, but then like I said some asshat made it worse.
I used it sparingly but then I stopped after a little while, then some other jerkface started to up the ante as I said before.
I never once posted "vote mccain", I didn't discover those threads until after the election was over.

How do we know that anyone tells the truth on here? I'd like to prove this to you, but I don't know any way that I can objectively. I could link to the old threads for you, but I don't know what good that would do. I don't exactly have 24/7 footage of all the activity on my computer screen on hand unfortunately. So I don't know what to say.

At least link us to the threads your talking about, specifically the first time you saw the phrase, the first time you used the phrase, and the first time the supposed other guy used the phrase

OK, I'll try to do that then. It's going to be quite some digging to do.
If I remember correctly, I think that month of January was the only time I was posting it. Some people were getting a bit annoyed by it so I said to myself "I guess I better stop posting this". Not long after some idiot started posting it even more so than I did. I guess since it started pissing people off he thought it was funny and decided to troll with it. So all threads after January I guess.

Addendum: Looking back, it seems like the "VOTE VIPPER" crap was more annoying than the vote mccain crapflooding, but I could be wrong.

I have been here since 2004, shortly before /g/ changed from guro to technology. I never spent a whole lot of time on these text boards, the ones at 4-ch, etc. until about 2 years ago, when things got really bad. I regret it, because they have their own unique culture that is mostly independent from the rest of 4chan. And we're fairly active compared to 4-ch, so woo.
