why not to post phone number online

Name: Anonymous 2009-12-03 22:01

I was filling out my facebook info thing and I noticed that there's a thing to enter your phone number.  Is it really that bad of an idea to post one's phone number?

Of course not. Post it here by all means

Not if you have it on friends-only.  Unless you're the kind of person who accepts friend requests from any random person who sends one

Never use it when signing up for things. Ever.

Don't post it on the web or anywhere on the Internet, ever.

The instant you have incriminating information on yourself on the internet (name, address, phone number, etc), it is not difficult for someone to find out everything else about you.

Shit, man! don't give out your phone number, you could be killed by a psychopath. too risky.

it's so true.  In Steve Martin's movie The Jerk, some psycho skimmed a phone book looking for some guy to kill.  Just didn't like his name!  He shot up the gas station where Steve worked!
