It's a comfort thing I guess. Some of us older folks remember the pre-web days, back then almost everything was text. I still pay for a USENET account every month and have been for the past 15 years or so, ever since I got out of college.

I never really "grew up" during those days of BBSes, the golden age of USENET or ANSI art. But I do appreciate the history of it all and I do believe that historical preservation of that era (textfiles.com, ect.) is important.
I'm sure it must of been quite a ride and just as enjoyable before all the "normals" showed up.
