Every generation gets smarter. It's called The Flynn Effect. The whole "this generation is the dumbest ever" is a myth spread by ignorant old people who don't like the newness of youth culture.

In fact, this generation is the most literate generation of all time. Kids today write an average of 40 pages of text per month because of the internet. That's a far higher average than any other generation in history. Kids today know more about the world than the average citizen did at any other point history. They don't know enough imo, but they know more than the last generation did.

Youth today draw on a vast reservoir of personalities and and outlooks without subscribing to any. Think about how complex your world would be if you too had to see Swift's Modest Proposal on the same level as Telly Tubbies). If all culture was available to you but you had no obvious measure for what you should pay attention to. Your world is simple because you cling to traditions that predefine your beliefs and personality. Youth today don't have that, they are open to this flood of information. You are a dullard.
