generations

Every generation gets smarter. It's called The Flynn Effect. The whole "this generation is the dumbest ever" is a myth spread by ignorant old people who don't like the newness of youth culture.

In fact, this generation is the most literate generation of all time. Kids today write an average of 40 pages of text per month because of the internet. That's a far higher average than any other generation in history. Kids today know more about the world than the average citizen did at any other point history. They don't know enough imo, but they know more than the last generation did.

Life is a lot more complex than ever before, navigating society and information is getting harder...

Oh really?  Would you care to support that assertion? You can't.  because it's just another myth.  Like your idealized perception of a new and special youth culture, it doesn't hold up to scrutiny, and is just another misunderstanding founded in a lack of context.  Sure we have better tools, but the idea that it will take any less study and work to employ them effectively can only be the product of an immature mind.  Everything that passes for a representation of contemporary youth culture is a pale shadow of the product of past generations.  The glaring example is music.  The theoretical complexity of the music consumed by the youth demographic has been on a steady decline since the late 1970's.  What exactly are you "placing emphasis on"?  It's clearly not respect (dullard parents who hide in tradition and mindless ritual and gesture).  Do you think "trolling" is a new product of your generation?  Swift wrote "A Modest Proposal" in 1729. You can only know as much about "today's world" as you know about yesterday's, so again, get over yourself and go do your homework.
