Finland has been an independent nation since December 6
th, 1917. Oulu, Finland wasn't part of the Soviet Union and it certainly wasn't a part of it in August, 1988. If the university where IRC was bring developed was located in Karelia then I could see that argument maybe holding some water. The Soviets tried many times to subvert Finland's sovereignty, and government, yet failed each and every time. Not to mention their comical attempt during World War II to destroy Helsinki by bombing it at nighttime.
Sorry Russians, you bring us many interesting things to the Internet world (which we deeply appreciate), but IRC is not one of them. Although we do appreciate the 1991 logs, they are interesting to read.
