Sup fellow Venus Fly Trap keepers, the last thread went over 1,000 posts so I figured that we could continue here.

Summer's here, the perfect season for your plant.  Here are some basic tips:

1. Fly traps need plenty of warmth.  Make sure it gets on average 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day, and another 6-8 in a warm area (windowsill, greenhouse).  Depending on climate, you may want to put it out during the cooler morning hours.
2. Fly traps are swamp plants, and as such need plenty of water.  Avoid impure tap water; instead use rain or distilled.
3. Use only nutrient-free soil, preferably peat moss.  The plants get all the nutrients they need from their food.
4. Finally, make sure your plant is in a place where it can catch some nice juicy flies.  If you want to attract some towards it, any sweet substance will do (honey, soda, rotten fruit)

Happy fly trap keeping!

I liked the beekeeping thread better. At least you could make a profit off of bees. What kind of profit could you make off of a Venus fly trap?

It's not about the money, it's about the joy of fly traps!

You can dispose of human remains in short order if you you have a football field sized greenhouse full of fly traps.

What happens if you put your dick in the trap?

I guess so. I can understand that. If one had enough land you could probably do both beekeeping and Venus fly trap keeping.

My property isn't anywhere near big enough to be able to do something like that, and anyway most of the civilized world had modern plumbing for that anyway.

I wouldn't recommend doing that.  Triggering the plant's trap mechanism saps it of energy.  Your dick does not belong in the fly trap!

It was most likely a human mistake! Not a machine mistake!
