What is Anonymous?

"We are Anonymous, we are Legion." Those who quote this line act as though they are part of some grand organization, and the media certainly likes to project that image.

Yet ultimately, one becomes a member of Anonymous by saying "I am a member of Anonymous". No credos, no commitments, no pledges or payments or oaths. One joins by wishing to join. One leaves it just as easily. one can be a member of Anonymous more easily than one can change one's clothes, and yet when one sees the level of impact they have on real-world institutions it is truly amazing how sublte second-order simulacra (stand-alone complexes) really are.

It's like the Al-Qaeda bullshit, Bush and Fox news are brainwashing us into hating innocent Muslims while the neocons are trying to re-colonize the Middle East to steal their oil and pollute their deserts. Fuck, this world sucks :(
