You dirty asshole. The mentality behind all "catchphrases" is that of the /b/tard. Only a moron would enjoy seeing the same phrase posted over and over again. Furthermore, both jeepers and Listen here, jerkface were originally from /b/. Just before your time, or so you claim; you could be a troll...
You see, in the old days when users got banned from /b/ they could still access the textboards. 4chan still used frames so the textboards were easy to find yet hardly anybody used them due to lack of images. So /lounge/ quickly became the /b/ for banned users.
These guys brought their memes with them, including the overused "old man meme" that got banned due to being flooded worse than boxxi was recently. The meme consisted of acting like snooty, up-tight old men, saying jeepers! and well I never! That was the origin of those phrases. You'll notice that posting as "Anonymous Who Says Jeepers" on the imageboard still gets you permabanned, (except on /b/, where it's been unbanned).
A couple of years later (2007) /b/ started getting flooded with spambots saying stuff like "you sir are and idiot :/". The flooding was so bad that many recent arrivals to /b/ couldn't picture /b/ without it. When these "newfags" got banned for "newfaggatry" and migrated to /lounge/ they hated the way it wasn't flooded by spam phrases. So they decided to start doing it themselves. It started with jeepers and listen here jerkface being spammed constantly, with these "homegrown" spam phrases you talk of developing soon after. These include things like POBCI, the fuck on, drive like jehu, KIKES, and many other stupid ones, too shortlived to warrant listing.
