God created the world and the first man Adam. Adam ate a forbidden fruit which somehow damned humanity and barred them from entering Heaven even though Adam's descendants had nothing to do with his decision. Only Enoch, Moses, and Elijah were accepted into Heaven. After thousands of years later and after millions of meaningless lives who never had a chance of going to Heaven God finally decides that he can forgive his creations and allow deceased souls to enter into Heaven.
He then sends his son Jesus Christ to fulfill prophecies of the prophets and to be crucified on a cross to undamn humanity and allow them to sin all they want. Jesus was resurrected two days later and ascended to Heaven. He seemed to have suffered no real consequence from his sacrifice as he rose two days later. Nonetheless in order for his sacrifice to have any effect you must accept him as your Lord and Saviour.
