Old fag here,  science was just a blanket term for "believe this" in proving an argument.  Used in the case of when logical discourse was unavailable.

There's some British dude who had a science show, and he was in the Thomas Dolby song "She Blinded Me with Science", in which we hear his voice saying "SCIENCE"
