no it isn't you dink, you get a marriage licence from the government, and you are free to have an oath with or without religion, as with a justice of the peace. as far as the government is concerned, it's a legal contract, and any religion involved is only the business of the couple. marriages are already "civil unions". if you want some religious-only nonsense union, then you just skip the marriage license part, and you'd be common-law in the eyes of the government after a time period, like any other shacked up couple.
