Academic Comics: The Mathematician

Next in the line of Academic Comics is The Mathemetician.  The current issue has no word balloons, as the protagonist spends 64 pages alone attempting to relate a lemma to an axiom.  Part way, he discovers that he must educate himself on an unfamiliar branch of mathematics before he can procede.  His look of weariness at that point really captures the drama.

Iain Banks just wrote a novel called "The Algebraist".  It's really not as boring as you'd think from the title.  For those who want to read it, the Big Secret is that the Dweller wormhole network is INSIDE the geometric center of each one of their gas giant planets.
