Starting the Guitar

Best way to learn guitar? Is there a program or website that stands out? I want to learn to read tabs and the sheet music (I kind familiar with sheet music since I used to play the trombone.)

And if it helps you any I promise I won't be the type of fag that carries around a guitar and plays in public.
