2008 Will Be A Great Year For The Movies

Name: Mrs. Shaplowski 2008-01-02 4:34

2008 looks like a good year for Films, well, except for Speed Racer, only because it’s target audience are pre-teens. And, I’m trying to get my children to think of our Environment, to keep the planet healthy. We can only do that by urging our youth and people in power, the importance of alternative Energy sources. And, cleaner modes of transportation. Gasoline powered vehicle Emissions is the number 1 cause of cancer and a global warming.

If you care about this planet, don’t let your children get influenced by the Speed Racer movie. It’s obvious the Wachowski’s are merely creating a Movie/Advertisement to keep the next generation hooked on fast cars, and race car driving, both of which are detrimental to our environment.

Thank you,
Mrs. Shaplowski

Are you saying that this linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?
That sounds preposterous to me.

If it were true (and I doubt it), then companies would be selling computers without a windows. This clearly is not happening, so there must be some error in your calculations. I hope you realise that windows is more than just Office ? Its a whole system that runs the computer from start to finish, and that is a very difficult thing to acheive. A lot of people dont realise this.

Microsoft just spent $9 billion and many years to create Vista, so it does not sound reasonable that some new alternative could just snap into existence overnight like that. It would take billions of dollars and a massive effort to achieve. IBM tried, and spent a huge amount of money developing OS/2 but could never keep up with Windows. Apple tried to create their own system for years, but finally gave up recently and moved to Intel and Microsoft.

Its just not possible that a freeware like the Linux could be extended to the point where it runs the entire computer fron start to finish, without using some of the more critical parts of windows. Not possible.

I think you need to re-examine your assumptions.

Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer, he's a demon wheels
He's a demon and he's gonna chasing after someone
He's gaining on you so you'd better look alive
He's busy revving up his powerful Mach 5
And when the odds are against him and there's dangerous work to do
You'd bet your life Speed Racer will see it through

Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer, Go

In that case, I hope everyone in the whole world sees Speed Racer. Once the Earth warms enough, you'll all be too hot to talk about global warming.

Unfortunately for your argument, fast cars don't cause global warming. Neither do slow cars. Or factories. Most of the Carbon Dioxide emitted in the last 100 years was on the first half of the 20th century. The earth was much cooler then, despite more emissions from cars and more pollution from industries.

The earth was much, much warmer during the Middle Ages, when there were no cars or factories at all. Maybe they should have had a Kyoto Treaty? Oh wait, the Kyoto Treaty would not create much change in temperature, but would cost a fortune. Kind of like how the U.S. spends so much on public education, when test scores are the same as in the 1970s.

Also, the thread title is misleading, and this isn't the film board.
