Yes, RedCream clone, I've been to Yellowstone. It was in the late 1980s ... in fact, right before the huge set of fires that decimated the park (mostly from all those decades of unwise fire-prevention policies). I also recall shivering my motherfucking ass off beside a campfire, under the looming Grand Tetons, and again cursing myself for not properly preparing for mountain weather.
The best thing about Yellowstone was the buffalo. That was the first time my brain did something to my voluntary that I was not consciously controlling. There was a buffalo that was casually grazing and started to come over a bridge. I had thought that I could get close, but at about 200ft, when something deep within me recognized just how fucking enormous the fucking thing was, my feet refused to move any further. As the buffalo came across the bridge in its leisurely way, I backed off ... again, from a deep compulsion to avoid being anywhere near such a large animal.
Later, we saw some signs urging visitors to avoid getting close to the buffalo, and the sign had a wonderfully rendered drawing of a buffalo goring/butting a tourist high into the air. The drawing showed the man in agony and his camera went flying. At that point, I already knew to avoid them. My body knew before I consciously did. Buffalo on a free range is just too fucking large to get near without risking serious injury or death ... at least, not without a 55cal. double-barrel rifle to help in my defense.
Yellowstone was full of geysers and what we called "little bubbling pots of smegma", which were throwing hot mud around. Yellowstone is just a big caldera from a past supervolcano, which is only going to erupt again in the future and cover much of North America in ash.
