Need help on NAT settings and/or XBL ports.

Okay, I can't seem to connect to a lot of people's parties in Halo 2 on Xbox Live. I know it's because either some of my ports are closed, and/or my NAT settings are strict.

Can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to fix this? Dumbed down, please, I don't know much about computers.
