Ok, so a little background. There’s currently a fad around my area of town of home-made whips, these kids make their own whips out of old sheets or something and then stand on their front lawn and crack them all day. It’s really weird, but I don’t mind them that much (the constant cracking gets a little annoying).
So here’s my problem. I was walking home from uni today and I took a shortcut through a small little forest place that led into a park. While I was cutting through I could hear someone cracking a whip, and I looked and it was some kid, maybe 10 or so, with the most intense look on his face ever. I think he was practicing or something, but when I laughed he turned around and was like “what are you laughing at?” and I just glared at him and he said “I [sic]axed you a question” and I said “are you serious?” and he whipped me, so I marched up to him, grabbed his whip, and in a fairly continuous movement wrapped it around his feet and tied him up, not ultra tight or anything, just enough to be an inconvenience and I said “whips are cool” and I walked away, feeling fairly proud of myself for teaching the little brat a lesson.
This was on Tuesday.
Yesterday I caught the same bus and decided to cut through the same park on the way home. I turned the corner into the park (there’s this long entrance thing) to see a couple of trucks and this big tent thing with people in those white clean suits going in and out. I had completely forgotten about the kid I tied up and I asked one of the cops that was standing there what was going on, and he said he couldn’t go into exact details, but a local boy had been tied up, brutalised and killed. It was at that moment that I remembered that kid with the whip and my heart almost exploded. The cop saw my face and said that they were going to catch the guy pretty quick to try and comfort me or something. “You’d better!” I laughed and walked off. Once I was out of his sight I sprinted home to post this.
What’s the worst trouble I could get in for this? I mean, I only tied the kid up, and thinking about it, he could have broken free and someone else could have come along and tied him up again or something. I think a lawyer could prove this pretty easily, and I figure there’ll be a bunch of DNA and whatever that’s not mine. Idk, can I be charged as an accessory to murder or something though? I’m frantically reading and I can’t come up with much, but I hope at most I’ll get charged with assault of a minor or something.
It’s a pretty bad neighbourhood and the kid looked pretty poor, hopefully this whole thing will just blow over, or they’ll catch the main guy. But what if he says he didn’t tie the kid up?
Help!
