Why is it people in the Bible were allowed to talk to God and have visions but whenever anyone today (except in certain cases) claims those things they throw a label such as schizophrenia and psychosis on him, send him to a institution to "cure" him, and put him on expensive medication?
According to the criteria for certain mental illnesses, and what "reality" is shouldn't every single self-proclaimed prophet, conspiracy theorist, and even authors of horror, science fiction, and fantasy are "withdrawn from reality". Yet only a few random ones get diagnosed.
I understand many of you are sensitive when people bash the mental health system. I mean some of you and some of your friends are getting free checks every month just for saying "I SEE THINGS LOL" to a doctor. Anyway aside from severe retardation most mental illnesses if they exist in the first place can be cured with some corporal punishment.
