Freedom

Name: Anonymous 2007-06-03 15:24 ID:EQA5j2wF

What is this face of Anonymous? This liberation from the constraints of society? Is it true freedom, or do we in turn simply become slaves to our own desires?

This was once thought to be an experiment in freedom; the ability to be every single entity while remaining individual at the same time. It may be freedom from morals, rules, customs, precedents, and society itself in the name of complete freedom...but what does it mean when we can't even be free from ourselves?

When you are oppressed by rules and society, you are free from your own desires. You are not a slave to your greed, lust, or gluttony. You are free of yourself. Does this make the book 1984 merely the logical extension of Lord of the Flies?

How does one live free from society and free of himself?

[copied and pasted from /b/ because this actually makes for an interesting debate]

there's really not much using this abstract capable brain outside of society, so being free might not be a positive thing in the first place.
