The Romans were just as fucked up as us check out this quote from a Roman poet;

Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo,
Aureli pathice et cinaede Furi,
qui me ex versiculis meis putastis,
quod sunt molliculi, parum pudicum.

("I will bugger you and fuck your mouths, you faggot Aurelius and pervert Furius, because you thought me indecent because my poems are somewhat sissified.")

Now that's a classic.  In school, poems were always about being morbid and sad.
