Why bother to have an anonymous option if an ID number is listed right beside it? It totally takes away the whole point of 4chan's anonymity, right? I mean, the link at the bottom to Shiichan talks all about it. How can you blatantly go against what you stand for?

No I wouldn't. We still have anonymity.The only thing we lack now is the ability to respond to ourselves in the same topic and act like it's a different person. You get a different ID for every different topic you post in, I fail to see how there's any problem.

The ONLY thing I'll know is it's the same person who posted earlier within that particular thread. I think that's still enough anonymity, considering most threads don't stay active for very long.
Well it's still pretty easy to change your IP and therefore get new id's, that goes without saying. :P

I actually figured anonymous posting meant that you could do something completely stupid or make an ass of yourself, then post reasonably and rationally next and no one would know or CARE. In other words, posts would be valued only for their content.
I thought that was the entire point. Making it optional if you want people to know that it was you who posted before.
